What would be the best way to sell a nondigital 35mm Minolta camera with a zoom lens?

Question by what about government grants?: What would be the best way to sell a nondigital 35mm Minolta camera with a zoom lens?
Since everyone is buying digital cameras these days, what is the best way for me to sell my older 35mm Minolta camera with a zoom lens and some attachments? Who would be most interested in such a camera?

Don't expect to get a lot out of it. Unless it's really old and collectible (which is doubtful), it has very little value.

Search through eBay for cameras that are a similar age and model number to get an idea of what it's worth and how they are selling. Then use one of those ads as a model for your own ad.

eBay is usually the best because a wider audience stands the best chance of bidding the price up as much as possible. But don't get your hopes up too high.

And if it's not worth the trouble of listing, you can always donate it to your local Salvation Army or Goodwill store. They'll appreciate it. And the tax write-off may be worth more than what you could get by selling it.

Good luck.

  1. Just give it to somebody (student) who is interested in photography.

  3. Go on craigslist.

  4. You'll get the most $ $ on eBay.

If the lens is an off-brand (like Makinon) sell it with the camera as it's practically worthless.

If it's a Minolta lens sell it in a separate listing. Same with Minolta flashes and other name-brand items.

You can also try craigslist and kijiji but in my experience auction is less hassle and nets you more bucks.

Hope this helps and good luck.

  5. Try finding someone giving a camera class, like in a community college setting. There will be students who need a camera and will pay for a camera in good condition.

Otherwise, craigslist as others have suggested would be next, then eBay.

  6. Just keep it. I have 4 digital cameras but I never thought of selling my Nikon F301. You'll never know when you'll need it. Beisdes, you won't get much for it nowadays.
